ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿದೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ದೊರೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಮೊದಲು ಮೈಸೂರು ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮದ ದಿಗ್ಗಜರು ಕನ್ನಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾರಂಗದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಘನತೆಯಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಅಂದು `ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳ ಸಂಘ‘ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡು ಇಂದು `ಮೈಸೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ಸಂಘ’ವಾಗಿ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸೀಮೆಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ಬಳಗ ಬೆಳೆದುಬಂದ ಪರಿಯೇ ಕುತೂಹಲಕಾರಿ.

ಮೈಸೂರು ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ `ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳ ಸಂಘ‘ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದುದು 1934ನೇ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ತಿಂಗಳ 10 ರಂದು. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಹಿತ, ಅಭ್ಯುದಯದ ಆಶಯವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಬೆಳೆಯುವುದೇ ಈ ಸಂಘದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಮೂಲ ಸಂಘದ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೆ ಬುನಾದಿ ಹಾಕಿದವರೆಂದರೆ ಕೆ. ಜೀವಣ್ಣರಾವ್. ಇವರು ಮೈಸೂರು ನಗರದ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತುಕತೆ, ವಿಚಾರ ವಿನಿಮಯ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಸಂಘ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂತು.

ಸಂಘಕ್ಕೆ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸರೋಜಿನಿ ನಾಯ್ಡು ಅವರು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಂದೇಶದ ಸಾರ ಹೀಗಿತ್ತು: `ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿ ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾಗಿಯೂ ರೂಪಿಸುವರು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಂಬಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತನೂ ತನ್ನ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಚ್ಚರತಪ್ಪದೆ ತಂತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಉದಾತ್ತವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ವಿಶೇಷತೆಗೆ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಮೈಸೂರು ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ಸಂಘ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಘದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಜಿ. ಆರ್. ಜೋಷ್ಯರ್ ಅವರು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಕಾನೂನು ದೇಶದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಾರತಮ್ಯ ನೀತಿ ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ ಎಂದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ತಾನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿ ಇದರ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಕಾನೂನು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ಬದಲಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ನಿಚ್ಚಳ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ.
